Sakïyla-Kobï I (A-74)

Description

This inscription on a rock in the broad gully Sakïyla-Kobï is situated on a big plane facing East. This place is situated in 1,5km from the village Ak-Boom. The inscription was found by an inhabitant of the village Valerij Ačapov in 1999–2000. The inscription was first copied in 2001 by a researcher of the Bijsk Study of the Local Lore Museum B.X. Kadikov. In 2005, it was studied by I.A. Nevskaya and L.N.Tybykova, in 2006 and 2007 by M. Erdal, I. A. Nevskaya and L. N. Tybykova. The inscription is very badly preserved, the cuts are fairly seen, the second line is in especially bad condition. line. The fact that the first runes oft eh inscription are blocked by a big stone that apparently fell from the top of the rock makes reading of the inscription especially difficult. The inscription is read from bottom to top; it consists of ca. 15 signs, its length is 39,7cm, the height of the characters is 2,2–6cm.

Comments

The inscription is in an extremely damaged condition. The runes 5–6 could be interpreted as alp, although we have l2 here. Thus, we read alp ol ‘he is a strongman/warrior’. It is followed by bäg är a! ärd(ä)[m … ‘Oh, beg! The virtue of man ...’. bäg är is encountered very often. For the first signs and for the last 4 signs, we do not have any interpretation.
