Mendür-Sokkon V (A-36)

Description

The inscription ist o the North-East oft eh village of Mendür-Sokkon, appr. 5–6km from it, in the ravine of Üstügi Karasu, in 1,5km from the road Ust’-Kan – Mendür-Sokkon on the southern slope of a small hill in the mountain ridge. The surface with the inscription is 73х52cm, it faces the South. The inscription was found by the vice-director of the Mendür-Sokkon secondary school Takysova A.T. in 1980. She should it to Vasil’ev and Tybykova in 1983. It was rediscovered in 1997 by Kočeev V.A. and numbered by him as Mendür-Sokkon V. The inscription is vertical, it consists of 16 signs. Te length of the inscription is 21,3cm.

Translation: ‘You, come! To your comrades, to your countrymen...’

Comments:

The word eš is written with a special sign fort he closed е, and with the signом š¹, which is usually used in words with front vowels. In two Yenisei inscriptions this word is written exactly in this way (E2,1, E51,3).
