Kalbak-Tash XI (A-31)

Description

This is an inscription consisting of 2 signs, placed vertically, the length os the line is 3cm, the height of the characters is 2,8–3cm. V.M. Nadeljaev did not give any interpretation to this inscription. I. L. Kyzlasov considers that the inscription was made later than the other neibouring ones (Kalbak-Tash III–VII) and (X), but earlier that Kalbak-Tash IX (Kyzlasov 2002: 91).

Translation: Purify yourself (make your sins be forgiven)!

Runic transliteration:

Transliteration: r² I

Transcription: (ä)ri / (a)rï

Translation: His man / Purify yourself!

Comments

The interpretation (a)rï ‘Purify yourself!’ is possible if r² here means r, although we expect the sign r¹ here. It is possible that the consonant r gets palatalized near the vowel ï.
