Kalbak-Tash V (A-26)

Description

It is a vertical inscription situated in the upper part of plane I. It consists of 10 signsв, their length is 15 см. The height of the characters is between 2,0–3,5cm. It is ready from bottom to top. It was first interpreted by V.M. Nadeljaev in 1980. According to V.M. Nadeljaev, the inscription consists of 7 signs, i.e. he saw only a part of the signs. The rnes are inclined to the right side.

Transliteration: γ t1 d2 l1 n2 ŋ 11

Transcription: Aγї, at, äd alїїl

Translation: Take yourself the treasures, domestic animals (lit. . horse), possessions!

Reading of I. L. Kyzlasov (Kyzlasov 2002: 78)

Transliteration: t²gn² at¹ man² ŋä

Transcription: t(e)g(g)(ä)n (a)t(a)m (e)n(i)ŋ

Translation: My Father whom I found, descend (to me)!

 

 

Comments

A translation – My father who is arriving, come! – is also possible here, as is the one proposed by the interpretor. Kaŋ ‘father’ is used as an address to the deities in Manichaeism.

Translation: ……… Tegin! My horse is for your younger brother.

Comments

1. The menaing of the inscription is not quite clear.

2. t2 g2 n2, is probably a proper name here.
