Kalbak-Tash I (A-23)
Description
The inscription Kalbak-Tash I is situated in the lower part of plane I. The inscription is vertical, consisting of 38 signs; the length of the line is 72,5cm; the height of the characters is 1,6–6,5cm. The author of the inscription might have written the first big signs standing on the knees, as they are 18 см from the earth.
The inscription was first studied by V.M. Nadeljaev in 1980. He saw 39 signs, but sign 38 could not be seen at all. He presented his copy of the inscription as three parts (signs № 1–10, 11–24, 25–39). I. L. Kyzlasov sees 40 signs in this line.

Translation: (he) said: «The Earth is an eternal being! Give goodness to the house (family)of the medicine man (who treats illnesses with medical herbs): take in five measures; blow and carry away the heat of the devil’s illness! Make goodness! Earth-Black Wood!».
(Nadeljaev 1984: 94–95)
Comments
1. The notation b in the first line of the transliteration is a print error, as Nadeljaev V. M. gives information to the type of the consonant otherwise (front-back). It should be b2.
2. In the transcription of V.M. Nadeljaev, we encounter Jar – baŋgu, instead of Jär – bäŋgü; apparently, it is also a misprint; the diacritics are omitted.

Comments
1. A and l1 are written in the inverted form (i.e. these signs are written in the „mirror“ script in both cases of their appearance here.
